my name is damon owens, I'm hoping some of you remember me, I went to aliamanu 1970,71,72 seventh and eigth grade and Radford h.s. 1973. Before the end of the school year we moved to an air force base in Dayton, Oh. I attended tenth grade half in Lexington, Ky. and half in Dayton Oh. Summer 1974 my father let me move back to Hawaii at 16 years old to live with friends of the family in manoa valley, I worked at McDonald's in ala moana shopping center. 1975,76 I attended Roosevelt high school, I know back then there was some sort of friction between Radford and Roosevelt, never the less I graduated from Roosevelt 1976. Two weeks later moved back to Dayton Oh. to start college, 1977 father retires from air force after 28 years of service. 1978 father remarries, I don't know if any of you remember my mother passing away of cancer 1971 during seventh grade. Summer 1978 new chapter in my life new stepmother her three children my younger brother and myself move to San Diego, Ca. great place to live, eventually getting married and working in the electronics field for the next 25 years. Summer 2003 tired of the traffic and crowds in S.D sale house for four times what I paid, staying in California moved to basically out in the middle of nowhere in the desert to a resort community along the Colorado river where we have boating activities and camping. I'v lived here for the past 11 years as the head of security. So that's about it, at 58 years old recently divorced, no children plenty of time to reflect on my life during this time just thinking of friends I'v known since I was a young boy. Coming from a military family growing up basically moving every four years those type of long lasting friendships are hard to come by and as I get older I value those friendships even more. That type of thinking is what prompted me to look up Radford h s class of 1976. Just reading some of your names brought back a flood of memories and emotions I can't even explain how that made me feel. And when I read od Aulani Lugwig's passing a couple of years ago I cried, Aulani and I were in a lot of the same classes at aliamanu she was a very good friend of mine. It made me realize how short life really is and those friendships formed so many years ago at such a young age are so very important to me now, and I don't want the to slip away.
