After learning, in Feb 1976, that he was going to be a father he enlisted in the U.S. Army's delayed entry program.  On August 23, 1976 John married his high-school sweetheart, Karen (as 18 and 16 year old "kids").  Three days after the wedding John left his then seven months pregnant wife for bootcamp.  In December 1976 Karen joined John at Ft. Devens Massachusetts where he met his month old son John Jr.  In 1978 John received orders to go to Augsburg Germany.  John and Karen's daughter, Amanda, was born in Augsburg in 1979.   In 1980 the Loewe family left Germany and moved to Ft. Huachuca Arizona.  In 1982 John received an honorable discharge from the Army and he and his family moved to Kansas where they lived for about 7 years while John worked at the Wolf Creek Nuclear Generating Station.  In 1989 John moved to Nebraska to work at the Ft. Calhoun Nuclear station.  After leaving the nuclear industry John worked for the Cargill Corn Milling Facility in Blair Nebraska before taking an administrative role with Mutual of Omaha.  John's love for his family was second to none.  In his free time he played softball for many years, playing in Germany, Arizona, Kansas and Nebraska.  John was a huge Boston Red Sox fan, and wore Red Sox shirts almost every day.  He often met other Red Sox fans and enjoyed exchanging stories with them.   Karen referred to John as "Mr Social" as he never met a stranger and loved telling people his and Karen's story of marrying so young and somehow managing to be married for just over 39 years.   On August 23, 2015 John and Karen celebrated their 39th wedding anniversary and on Sept 11, 2015 John passed unexpectedly in the early morning hours of a heart attack.  John Edward Loewe - 25 May 1958 to 11 Sept 2015.  Rest in Peace.
